The GREAT Event Builder System will employ a modular pipe-line method of construction. Each stage in the pipe-line will perform a well defined task and will be carried out by either a single processor or group of processors working in parallel dependent on the task.
This gives a flexible system which can be scaled up as further developments dictate. Given the novel nature of the Total Data Readout (TDR) electronics to be used by GREAT it is important that the data selection and analysis stages of the system be able to evolve easily to take full advantage of the possibilities opened up the TDR electronics.

The GREAT Event Builder System includes the Data Collector VME crate and the Data Processor workstation/PC.
