The data is passed between the data analysis stage and the data output stage via shared processor memory. The task of the data output stage is to take the formatted data blocks and to dispatch them via the data network to the Tape Server for eventual writing to tape. The formatted data is also available to any number of data analysis systems (workstations and PCs) for further real time analysis by user written programs.

For the GREAT system the Data Output Stage will be a component of the Data Processor PC.
