RISING

RISING (Rare Isotope Spectroscopic INvestigation at GSI) project is designed to use the Euroball Cluster Ge-detectors and the Miniball triple cluster detectors for experimental campaigns at the GSI facility for nuclear structure studies.

The RISING array is located at the exit of the FRS facility at GSI

To date the array has been used for fast beam and stopped beam campaigns. The fast beam campaign used the high-energy beams (~100MeV/nucleon) to study exotic nuclei by Coulomb excitation or secondary fragmentation. In the stopped beam campaign the recoils are stopped in either an active or passive stopper and the decay properties of the exotic nuclei are studied.

The NPG, in collaboration with the University of Liverpool, performed the mechanical design of all these arrays and worked on the RISING electronics and data acquisition system.

infrastructure
