Target Manufacture at Daresbury Laboratory
The Nuclear Physics Group maintains a target preparation laboratory for the production of thin film targets and foils.
In order to meet the needs of the nuclear physics user community a large variety of targets are required from elements throughout the periodic table. Target preparation is often crucial to the success of an experiment and it is therefore of the utmost importance that the target conforms to the experimental requirements with regard to purity, composition, thickness etc.
The target preparation laboratory has an extensive range of equipment to carry out many target preparation techniques, including evaporation, sputtering, rolling.
