Jurosphere
Jurosphere was a European gamma-ray array that was sited at Jyväskylä, Finland for several periods between 1996 and 2001.
The Jurosphere Array
The array consists of a combination of large volume Ge detectors of the Eurogam Phase 1 type, TESSA Ge detectors and Nordball detectors. Each detector was housed in a suppression shield. The array was situated at the target position in front of the gas filled separator RITU. The array has been used in stand alone mode and in coincidence with recoils detected in the focal plane of RITU.
The instrumentation and data acquisition system used an enhanced version of the existing TARDIS system which is itself built on the NPG's MIDAS system.
The Jurosphere array has now been replaced by Jurogam. More information is available at the website of the JYFL Gamma Group.
