Exogam will frequently be used in conjunction with additional detector systems and a number of methods will be provided to enable data from these ancillary detectors to be combined with the data from the primary Exogam Cluster Ge detectors.

• Purpose designed VXI electronics which are fully compatible with the Exogam VXI module standards and can use the same control and readout methods. Examples already in existance include the Saphir VXI module and the GANIL QDC6414V VXI module.

• Data sources with DT32 output which can be connected directly to the primary DT32 bus.

• CAMAC adcs with FERA readout interfaced via the FVI (Fera-VXI interface) module.

• Other VXI modules which still permit readout via a STR 8080 readout controller (with modified firmware).

• VME data sources including VXI modules which cannot be handled via the STR 8080 readout controller.

This list of possibilities is in order of ease of implementation and ease of connection to the primary VXI electronics with the first in the list being the most easy.

Multiple data sources place the following additional requirements on the readout system

• Each data source must tag each event fragment with a global event number
  
  
• All data sources must be synchronised so that the data blocks from each data source contain fragments of the same events.
