EUROBALL System Console
Any
workstation connected to the Euroball network cluster may be used to
control and monitor Euroball experiments. However, only the workstation EB63
is configured so that all the control and monitoring functions are
automatically enabled when a euroball-session
is started.
To
use any other workstation for control of Euroball (such as EB56
which is in the Euroball experimental area) perform the following
actions once you have started a euroball-session.
1)
In
the Euroball Experiment Control window select the subsystems required to
be controlled and monitored. The main Euroball
subsystems required are VXI Electronics, Event Collectors and Event
Processors plus CAMAC Electronics and VME Electronics if
these are is use. Just click on the button to select/deselect. Only those
subsystems selected will be controlled by the main Euroball GO, STOP
and RESET buttons.
2)
In
most cases it is not required to control the Tapes subsystem in order to
control data acquisition but the Tape Stream Rates etc will only be
shown if the Tapes subsystem is selected. In order to enable the Tape
monitoring it is also necessary to click on the Rates and Monitoring
button at the bottom of the Euroball Experiment Control window. Then
click on the tape rate monitoring and rate monitoring buttons
which are toggles to start/stop monitoring.
3)
In
order to monitor the Trigger Scaler Rates click on the Rates and
Monitoring button at the bottom of the Euroball Experiment Control
window. Click on the trigger rate monitoring button which is a
toggle to start/stop monitoring.
4)
In
order to be warned of major system problems go to the Exception Monitor
window (this can be opened by starting the Euroball Main Menu from the More
Actions button at the bottom of the Euroball Experiment Control
window and selecting the Exception Monitor) and enable the Enable
Actions checkbox.
