Installation of the MIDAS Sort Package (MIDASsort)

Sept 14 2005: Added simple format decoder for VXI data
Sept 23 2005: Added sort code examples
Oct 28 2005: Contains an important workaround in /MIDAS/MIDASsort/Linux/bin/memsas to handle the situation when the /dev/shm filesystem (which holds your spectra) fills. Only effects Linux.
Nov 3 2005: Further memsas update for all OS. When memsas is terminated for any reason (including kill) all histograms are deleted. This cures potential file permissions problems. Histogram ID can now start at 0.
May 2 2006: Added support for GNU compilers (gcc and g77) with Windows.
Oct 9 2006: Major restruct of the code to enable debug output when using Windows + GNU compilers. Various bug fixes. Please read updated installation notes for Windows versions.
Jul 28 2009: Add support for Linux64. Actually forces use of 32 bit mode.
April 17 2012: Fixes problem when using Windows7 (32 and 64 bit supported). For Windows now uses Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.
Full support for Linux64. July 2 2014: Update for AIDA & Cygwin (in Windows)
March 16 2016: Recompiled Linux 64 version. OS: Scientific Linux 6.7, Compiler: gcc 4.4.7. (Distribution also contains tarfile of version made with Scientific Linux 5.9, Compiler: gcc 4.1.2)
