Current Status

  • June 2004 The FIRST results for GREAT/Jurogam are about to be bunlished in Phys Rev C!!
  • April 28 2003 GREAT event builder software now available - download.
  • December 2 2002 The Great Planar detector has been delivered to Liverpool. ( View Picture )
  • November 18 2002 GREAT is running the first in-beam experiments.
  • November 4 2002 Start of the GREAT TDR commisioning run. Photographs of the TDR comissioning run
  • August 5 2002 The commisioning of the GREAT Si detectors went well.
  • July 27 2002 Final setup of GREAT prior to the comissioning run. The following detectors have been installed:
    • Gas detector.
    • 28 PIN diodes
    • 60x40 DSSD
The electronics to be used for this run are 9 Silena 761F amplifiers, 9 Lecroy 3420 CFD's and a variety of ADC's. Photographs of the setup can be seen by following this link. The remaining detectors will be installed at a later date. One of the test reactions was 208Pb(48Ca,2n)254No at a beam energy of 216 MeV. A spectrum of the alpha corelated recoils can be seen here, and a spectrum of the recoil corelated alphas from this reaction can be seen here. These spectra were sorted offline from a fraction of the data by Prof. P.A. Butler
  • June 20 2002 GREAT mechanics installed in the RITU cave at the University of Jyväskylä.
  • May 03 2001 Pre-GREAT experiment completed at the University of Jyväskylä.
  • April 18 2001 Pre-GREAT experiment running at the University of Jyväskylä.
  • April 9 2001 Pre-GREAT experiment being set up at the University of Jyväskylä.
